
English as a Second Language
ESL students may begin study at Florida Community
College by completing the following steps.
- Apply to Florida Community College on any
campus by visiting the enrollment services office. You may obtain
admissions materials by calling 904.646.2300.
- If you are uncertain if your program of study
is credit or non-credit, make an appointment with the ESL advisor
at South Campus at 904.646.2424.
- Prepare for college placement by taking the
placement test administered at the campus assessment center.
If you place in ESL classes, these classes must be completed
before attempting other college credits. See your advisor.
- After testing, ESL students will receive
by mail an orientation and registration appointment date.
- Orientation and registration for ESL students
is given only at the Downtown Campus. Test results will be
given at this time. Registration will take place after orientation.
Please keep in mind that you may attend classes at either
the Downtown Campus or South Campus depending on your placement
test results.
Students who place in ESL classes must register
for all classes or see advisor for other options.
The adult education non-credit ESL program offers
classes for community residents whose native language is not English
and who desire to learn and improve their English language skills
in preparation for job placement. For testing and registration
information, contact the ESL office at Downtown Campus at 904.633.8484.
International applicants must contact the admissions office at 904.632.3100
to ensure that all necessary immigration information is completed.
