English as a Second Language

ESL students may begin study at Florida Community College by completing the following steps.

  • Apply to Florida Community College on any campus by visiting the enrollment services office. You may obtain admissions materials by calling 904.646.2300.
  • If you are uncertain if your program of study is credit or non-credit, make an appointment with the ESL advisor at South Campus at 904.646.2424.
  • Prepare for college placement by taking the placement test administered at the campus assessment center. If you place in ESL classes, these classes must be completed before attempting other college credits. See your advisor.
  • After testing, ESL students will receive by mail an orientation and registration appointment date.
  • Orientation and registration for ESL students is given only at the Downtown Campus. Test results will be given at this time. Registration will take place after orientation. Please keep in mind that you may attend classes at either the Downtown Campus or South Campus depending on your placement test results.

Students who place in ESL classes must register for all classes or see advisor for other options.

The adult education non-credit ESL program offers classes for community residents whose native language is not English and who desire to learn and improve their English language skills in preparation for job placement. For testing and registration information, contact the ESL office at Downtown Campus at 904.633.8484.

International applicants must contact the admissions office at 904.632.3100 to ensure that all necessary immigration information is completed.
