Articulation and Transfer Agreements
Florida Community College has negotiated Articulation
and Transfer Agreements to facilitate the transfer of credits earned at
Florida Community College to bachelor degree completion programs at many
colleges and universities. These agreements list specific policies, conditions
and guidelines to assist with your transfer. The agreements also provide
a curriculum pathway for Florida Community College graduates to enter a
specific college and major at the junior, or sometimes senior, level, and
lessen the time to degree. The colleges collaborate on the most effective
way to maximize the Florida Community College credit hours before students
transfer to the upper division institution. Florida
Community College also participates in the established statewide
articulation agreements.
Articulation agreements are official agreements between
Florida Community College and baccalaureate degree granting colleges and
universities. The agreements specify the courses taught at Florida
Community College that the upper division college or university will accept. Because
institutions independently determine all of the requirements for their
programs, articulation agreements differ from program to program and from
college to college. After meeting the academic standards set forth
in the agreement with Florida Community College, students apply to the
bachelor's program to which they had planned to transfer. Usually,
they are accepted with full junior status.
Participating in an articulation agreement for transfer
to a college or university helps ensure that you won't have to retake
successfully completed courses and earn additional credits to enter as
a junior, once you transfer - unless, of course, you change your major
or degree program.

The accreditation status of the transfer
institution is very important.
Accreditation by a regional commission that's
recognized by the U.S. Department of Education is important. It's your
proof that outside evaluators have carefully reviewed an institution's
programs and policies. Many businesses, school districts, and other organizations
prefer to hire graduates of programs that are regionally accredited.
Regional accreditation also allows students to transfer more easily to
other universities and to seek admittance to graduate programs.

and transfer requirements provided herein are subject to change, amendment
or deletion by Florida Community College or by the transfer institution

Florida statute, 1007.24, guarantees that “any student who transfers among postsecondary institutions that are fully accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education
and that participate in the statewide course number system shall be awarded credit by the receiving institution for courses satisfactorily completed by the student at the previous institution. Credit shall be awarded if the courses are judged by the appropriate statewide course numbering system faculty committees….to be academically equivalent to courses offered at the receiving institution….The award of credit may be limited to courses that are entered in the statewide course numbering system….”
