Florida native Jerry Lambert was born in Key West and moved to Saint Augustine at the age of four. The graphic design student from Flagler College submitted two pieces for the poster contest. The first, which Lambert describes as a “conceptual, vintage ‘70s” piece, contains warm earth tones and is his personal favorite.
It was the second piece, however, that caught the attention of the poster committee. “[It’s] a more straightforward image, evoking the tranquil Florida pace,” Lambert says. Created in vibrant blues and greens, the figure of a woman reading a book provides a beautiful inspiration for the 2005 Writers’ Festival.
The 2005 Poster Contest winner acknowledged his talented classmates. “I thought everybody in class had great posters; I didn’t think I would win,” Lambert said. The Poster Committee was amazed at the phenomenal talent in the posters submitted. It was a difficult decision to choose one winner from 29 posters. Lambert is thrilled and expresses his appreciation to the committee for their selection.
